The velvet box is made in China, that is why some of the costumers found Made In China stickers on the velvet box wrapper. The glass is made in USA and the etching is totally handmade by Etchpress.
Regarding the thickness of the glass, it need to be thick for the creation of crackle on the base. Also, if it is too thin, it'll broke soon after the etching. The thickness is a part of the design.
