    Vargan (Khomus)
"I am not a guitar, not a violin, not a flute, darling, not a lute.
    I am a harp.
I do not hold in trembling fingers, palms, do not caress,
    Teary strings.
I am made of steel and bone, I am older than the Scythian Baba,
    Than Chingisov mound.
I sing not with silver, but with blades, shafts of arrows, flame,
    The cry of the Huns.
I do not delight to hear - shaman dancing, fire, wild tune,
I Kamlai road to the worlds on the branches of Yggdrasil,
    On sizomu smoke.
I do not know how to sound for exquisite ladies, princesses, queens.
I summon into battle not the body, but the spirit, you will manage to master - Priim.
Squeeze my body tight, squeeze my teeth, breathe through me, I am Khomuz!
Pull the tongue, exhale, feel this rhythm, so the sheet sounds in the wind.
The sound penetrates three skies, it will tremble in the crown of white ash, I will respond.
My song spreads like a fire across the steppe, like water in a flood fog in the morning.
I am a shaman! I am steel. The song of the sword and the arrow, the song of the spirit and dreams. Healing wounds.
Here is your way. Guide, guiding thread and the foundation.
    I am a harp. "

From the depths of the ages
Vargan is one of the most ancient labial musical instruments and is found in almost all nations of the world under various names. In ancient times, the Vargan (khomus) was considered a sacred instrument and was necessarily used in many ritual practices. The tambourine opened the passage between the worlds, and the khomus (harp) frightened off malevolent spirits and called for spirit assistants.
In healing, khomus (Vargan) was used as a means of clearing the mind and beneficially affecting all power centers of a person. He was seen as an energy generator, creating a powerful vibration of the life force in the mouth.
According to the shamanic model of a thin-layered human structure, the upper palate has access to the surface of a special coordinating center responsible for monitoring the state of the environment and the body's response to signals received from the brain. Chinese philosophy adds that in this place there is a docking of the male du-may energy channel with a female jen-may. When playing on a khomus (Vargan), the disturbed energy balance is restored as a result of the closure of the so-called “small celestial steep”.
Not so long ago, scientists from different countries became interested in the medical aspects of khomus, who argued that the views of the ancients had a real practical basis. The sound of a khomus (vargan) really harmonizes the functions of all human organs. Treatment with the help of khomus received the name khomusotherapy in the scientific community.
When we play the harp, powerful vibrations are born. In the mouth arises, if we talk about the physics of the phenomenon, a standing sound wave. And you can pick up the sound of the instrument, which will come into resonance with the basic rhythms of human vibrations. This is achieved both by the features of the manufacture of the instrument, and the features of the game on it. In biology, the so-called alpha, beta, gamma rhythms characteristic of the human brain are known. A sound wave, entering a resonance with these rhythms, causes altered states of consciousness. The world is magically transformed, and we begin to see, feel, feel what we have not noticed before. This curious effect is experienced by any person who starts playing the harp. It manifests itself quickly and powerfully. If you are familiar with "energy" practitioners and know the cartography of altered states of consciousness, then the harp will help you to enter the "upper world" for information, the "lower world" for power and the "middle worlds" for action that transforms reality.
Shamanic energy techniques and practices are based on the fact that the bones of the skull serve as a natural resonator, and sound can spread in our body along the most varied trajectories. Playing on the harp is very similar to singing mantra. There is a powerful mutual initiation of man and the whole universe, the whole world around. And in man, power and knowledge awakens.
The harp has an unusual, velvety "metallic" sound, pleasant to the ear, soothing and thought-provoking. In ancient times it was believed that playing the harp clarifies the mind, strengthens the vitality of a person, harmonizes the functions of all organs; this is confirmed by modern scientists.
Vargan allows you to extract an unimaginable set of beautiful sounds and overtones, and in combination, for example, with throat singing (in Russia traditionally popular in Altai), the potential of the instrument simply ceases to fit into any framework. Moreover, the timbre and range, all shades of sound depend on each specific instrument and, moreover, on a specific performer. In the hands of different people, the vargan always sounds different. Masterful playing on the harp bewitches, leads away from the surrounding reality, makes you feel the song of the harp.
When sound is extracted, the vibrating tongue of the vargan gives rise to vibrations that are transmitted to the person, changing and complementing the perception of music. You can pick up the sound of the instrument, which will come into resonance with the basic rhythms of human vibrations.
